Student Behaviour & Expectations:

Our school is very fortunate to have the help of many dedicated community members and teachers who are giving up their time to train and coach our teams. Representing Heaton in an inter-school competition is a privilege. We have an expectation that students reflect our school values and that their behaviour both during school, and in the wider community is respectful and positive. All participants must read and follow both the Heaton Sports Code of Conduct and PSC Code of Conduct

Heaton Sport Code of Conduct (CARE)
Primary Sport Canterbury – Code of Conduct 2024

Meeting Times / Locations / Bus Organisation:

All students must eat lunch in their designated house areas, and then meet their coaches when dismissed at 12:40pm in the following locations. Please be prompt, line up in your teams and wait respectfully for your coaches so we can arrive at Hagley with sufficient time to warm up and get prepared.

  • Times and locations will be added here and to daily notices once confirmed.

Heaton Sport Safety Policy & PSC Risk Assessment:

All participants, caregivers and coaches must ensure they read the following document carefully:

Heaton Safety Policy for School & Representative Sport

Primary Sport Canterbury Risk Management 2024

Medical Kits:

Coaches must collect their sport/team medical kit from the front office. These should be kept for the duration of the summer sports season. Please see Marg or Sue to replenish any supplies that are used. Basic first aid equipment and ice packs will be available for Heaton students during their matches.

Injuries (what do I do?):

If you are injured, you will still travel with your Hagley Sport team on Tuesday afternoons to support your team(s) and assist your coaches.

Equipment Requirements:

Students must ensure they have their PE Kit / Sports Uniform (including Heaton hat), appropriate footwear/boots, sunblock, specialised sports equipment (pads, bat, gloves etc.) and a water bottle. It is their personal responsibility to ensure you have all the correct equipment each week so please be organised.

Language lessons, Kapa Haka and Orchestra: If you attend language tuition or you are involved in the Heaton orchestra and/or Kapa Haka and this clashes with a scheduled training session, you must notify your coach. These three school commitments take priority over a training session. An alternate time or training with a different Heaton team will be made available to you if possible.

Additional Information from PSC:

The purpose of weekly sport is to give all interested young people a chance to play sport against others in our region. The enjoyment of all is of most importance to us and if this means having to alter games to accommodate differing abilities then please take the initiative and do this.

Cancellations:

The P.S.C Sports Director, in conjunction with the ChCh City Council will make any decisions regarding cancellations due to weather or pitch/court conditions. These decisions will be make by 11:30am, and any information will be updated to the school daily notices, and sent out via text through the Heaton app.

Cost:

As an opt-in (user pay sporting opportunity), participation in a Heaton team does incur a cost that cover transportation, and this will be added to your school account. If you require any clarification regarding this process or have any questions, please contact our Executive Officer directly (eo@heaton.school.nz).
