Venue: Ruapuna Raceway (Mike Pero Motorsport Park)

Parking and Entry Map

Reporting & Event Times: 

  • Students who are travelling with parents and are meeting there, please rack your bike from 8:30am and meet Mrs Henderson at the Heaton Flag to collect your transponder.
  • Students who are travelling in the school mini van, please meet Mrs Henderson at the school flag pole in front of the hall at 7:45 to load bikes. We will depart school at 8am.
  • Thank you to Sophia and Freddy’s family and Arthur’s Family for supporting with transporting bikes. Please meet Mrs Henderson at the school flag pole in front of the hall at 7:45 to load bikes. We will depart school at 8am.

Reporting time is 9am for race marshalls in the carpark. Please meet at the event no later than 8:45 to ensure your child has adequate time to rack their bikes in transition. The race will commence as soon as possible after the first race briefing – this will be run at the start line before each race.

Race Times: 

  • Year 8 Run 2km, bike 9km, run 1km – Open race to start at 9:45am, Girls 9:50am
  • Year 7 Run 2km, bike 9km, run 1km Open start 10.25am, girls 10.30am

Bike Racking

  • Year 7/8 bike racking will start at 8.30am. Bike racks will be cleared around 11am BEFORE racking for the second session will start.

Cancellation: Any cancellation information will be posted on the P.S.C Website (www.primarysportscanterbury.org.nz). There is no postponement date, so a cancellation will not occur unless the weather conditions are extreme.

Equipment Requirements:

  • All Duathlon race equipment i.e. bike, helmet, running shoes etc.
  • Heaton PE top with Hat – students can wear black bike shorts if they prefer over PE shorts.
  • Packed lunch with healthy snacks & water bottle
  • All relevant medication e.g. ventolin
  • Spare clothes
  • Sun protection
  • Weatherproof jacket (please check the forecast the night before as we have had wet weather in previous events)

Additional Notes:

  • Drinks: Students will need to bring their own drinks and refreshments.
  • Please remind your child to bring adequate layers to wear before and after the event.
  • Food/Coffee: There will be a coffee cart/bagel bar, One Scoop or Two ice-cream truck and burgers available to purchase on the day. Burger fundraiser information is attached. 
  • Please ensure you read the race rules carefully before the event!
