Heaton Basketball 2025

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all students for the passion and dedication demonstrated during our basketball trials. A big thank you also to Mr Grant, Mr Phanpho and Mrs Cummings for their support in running the trials. We are really excited to begin our 2025 season in Term 2.

We have several volunteer coaches supporting our basketball teams this year, and I would like to extend a massive thanks to them for their time, energy and organisation. We wouldn’t be able to provide this opportunity to so many of our basketball players without their support.

To see what team you will be playing for this year, please access the following link – I hope to have training times confirmed by the end of this week:

Heaton Basketball Teams and Training Schedule 2025

Basketball Competitions

We are playing across three different competitions this year to allow as many players as possible to play basketball. Please ensure you know which team you’re in and where your team is playing. This should remain consistent, but I will let you know of any changes.

Training Expectations

Students have an expectation to attend their weekly training session. If you cannot attend a training session, you must email Mrs Henderson in advance to let her know so that she can pass the message on to your coach.

If your training day/time clashes with another school commitment (cultural, sporting, music etc.), please email Mrs Henderson so we can make a plan.

Our Code of Conduct

Representing our school on Friday evenings is a privilege. It is important that players and their caregivers read, understand and follow our Heaton Sport Code of Conduct: Code of Conduct (CARE)

Unable to attend a game?

If you are unable to attend one of your Friday evening games for any reason (illness, injury, holiday etc.) you must email Mrs Henderson. Thank you for your support with this.

2020 Heaton Basketball Schedule – Term 2

Welcome back Heaton Basketball enthusiasts!

As things are currently a little different in our wider community and at school in regards to sport, we cannot organise our traditional Heaton basketball trials to select our teams that play at Bishopdale on Friday evenings. As an alternative, Mr Evers will be holding daily House Basketball sessions at lunchtimes (12:45pm – 1:15pm), for all those students who expressed their interest last term.

The Basketball sessions will take place in the Heaton hall, except for on Thursday where 1/2 of the outdoor court will be used due to Kapa Haka. Students must hand-sanitise both on entry and exit to the hall, and the equipment will be cleaned by Mr Evers after each session. The activities that will take place will be non-contact based, to adhere to our school social distancing procedures.

Based on these sessions over the next six weeks, Mr Evers will select 6 boys teams and 2 girls teams that will be invited to represent our school in the YMCA competition. At this stage, we have not received any news from the YMCA regarding when the competition will begin and how it will be structured. As soon as we have any updates, I will keep you all posted.
