Heaton Swimming Sports 2020

The 2020 Heaton Swimming Championships provided an opportunity for our competitive and experienced swimmers to battle it out for school selection at the Canterbury AIMS Championships, and for our recreational swimmers to earn house points and improve their confidence.

We were very fortunate to have the support of our Heaton Learning Support Team, Mrs Earl, Ms Green and a number of parents/caregivers who gave up their time to help coordinate this opportunity for our Heaton students. Thank you for your dedication and selflessness!

A huge congratulations must go out to all of our competitors for the positive and supportive way in which they competed. We had a number of amazing individual performances, and are very much looking forward to seeing some of you compete at next months Inter-schools event.

There were some fantastic battles and close contests throughout the day, and it was a pleasure to see students living our Heaton values and 6C’s throughout. A big thank you to all participants and congratulations to our 2020 champions!

WEEKLY DRAWS, GAME DAY INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION

All weekly results and draws are posted on the Canterbury Water Polo website: Term One Weekly Draws. Mr Evers will also upload weekly game times to the Heaton daily notices. It is the responsibility of students to ensure they check the weekly draw and be poolside at least 15 minutes prior to your game start time so you can meet your coaches.

Where possible please arrive to games wearing your Heaton PE shirt over the top of your togs, so you are easily recognisable by your coaches.

If you are unable to attend a game, please communicate this with Mr Evers via email (everst@heaton.school.nz). This way we can ensure we have sufficient numbers for each game, and can organise replacement players if required.

GAME LOCATIONS & TIMES

All Term One games will be played at Jellie Park. Monday evening games can be scheduled anytime between 7:15pm – 9:30pm (25 minute games – 4 minute quarters). Friday evening games can be scheduled anytime between 7:15pm – 9:30pm (25 minute games – 9 minute halves).

CWP – TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Canterbury Water Polo U/12 programme is aimed at any player (no matter their ability or level of experience) with weekly training sessions. There is the opportunity to travel representing Canterbury or to attend trainings sessions to improve your basic skills, and become a more competent and confident player.
