On Tuesday 5th March 2024, Primary Sports Canterbury is hosting an inter-school CAIMS Tournament. Please ensure you read the following information carefully so you are prepared for this exciting opportunity. A huge thank you to all of our Heaton staff and our community helpers for their efforts in making this event possible for our students. Please check the blog each day this week as new information will be updated as soon as it is received i.e. draws, specific meeting times etc.

DATES:
The competitions take place on Tuesday 5th March. The tournament will run all day.
VENUES:
- Bowls – Bowls Canterbury Centre Green
- Cricket – South Hagley/Hospital Corner
- Futsal – South Hagley CNC Netball Courts
- Golf – Hagley Golf Club
- Orienteering – South Hagley to meet outside the CNC Netball courts
- Tennis – Wilding Park
- Touch – North Hagley
CODE OF CONDUCT: All participating students must ensure they read and follow our school representative sports code of conduct: Heaton Code of Conduct (CARE)
COST:
Participation in the CAIMs Summer Tournament is based on our user-pay model (opt-in) and will involve a cost that covers return transportation to the event and tournament expenses. These costs will be added to your school account.

STUDENT EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS: Please ensure you have the following equipment to ensure your success on tournament day:
- Packed lunch with plenty of healthy snacks.
- Water bottle.
- Heaton PE kit or assigned uniform.
- Any specific sports equipment you require for your code e.g. touch boots, tennis shoes, mouth guards, racquets etc.
- Warm clothing in the event of wind or cold weather.
- Sunblock and sunhat.
- Spare shoes for outdoor codes (in the event of rain and mud)
- All personal medication you require e.g. EpiPen, Ventolin
- Please note, there will be no gum or fizzy/sports drinks permitted.
MEETING TIMES & LOCATIONS
All students
- Meet in the hall at 7:30am. Roll to be taken by Teachers in charge of each sport. Kate will collect all rolls and deliver to office.
- Depart at 8am for sporting arenas.
Bus 1 Cricket, Futsal, Orienteering
On bus travelling to South Hagley – there may be a need to walk to our sporting grounds.
- Meeting locations and times for each sport:
- Cricket – Meet at Polo Grounds and hospital corner 8:55am briefing for 9:10am start.
- Futsal – Meet at the Hagley Courts at 9:00am briefing for 9.30am start
- Orienteering – meet at the Hagley Courts Carpark behind Christchurch Netball Centre at 9:45am briefing for 10am start.
Bus 2 Golf and Touch
On bus travelling to North Hagley
- Meeting locations and times for each sport:
- Golf – Meet at the Hagley Golf Course 9:30am briefing for 10am start.
- Touch Open – Meet at North Hagley at 9:00am briefing for 9.30am start
- Touch Girls – Meet at North Hagley at 9:00am briefing for 9.30am start

Traveling by School Mini Van to Bowls Canterbury Club – 28a Makora Street.

- Traveling by school mini van with Mr Greaves to Wilding Park + dropping off four bowls players to the above address on the way.

WHO TO INFORM IF I AM ABSENT?: If you are absent on the tournament day, you or your caregiver must email your coach.
EXPECTED BUS RETURN TIMES: It is expected that students will return to school at approx. 3:00pm. Once draws have been released, I will be sure to share any changes to this information.
